I am currently reading Uncanny Xmen, X-factor and New Xmen. I am so disappointed at myself of not getting Astonishing X-men as part of my monthlys (I am getting the HCs btw).

So far I find Astonishing the best comic book so far and Uncanny, Xfactor and New Xmen can all fit in 2nd. I havnt read much on new excalibur and Xmen, since Mike Carey started his run on the book, but I have read good reviews and feedback from friends that Xmen is also a good book to buy... Grabe mahirap maging Xmen fan... MAGASTOS!!!! :wolverine:

As the Whedon run comes to an end, I fear for the Astonishing franchise. I hope the one who takes over will at least come close to the storytelling of Whedon.

For the X-Men, I miss Banshee but the character just couldn't fit into the X-Titles lately, which is a shame since he was one of my favorite characters. For good old silver age style fun, I suggest you try X-Men: First Class. The stories are simple and the art of Roger Cruz has really gotten a lot better over the years.

Quick question: Who would you like to see replacing Joss Whedon on Astonishing X-Men?

Personally, I would like to see any of the following (in no particular order):

Warren Ellis
Brian K. Vaughn
Neil Gaiman
J. Michael Stracynzski

BTW, what happened to Forge? Isn't he with Valerie Cooper at O*N*E?

I'd love to see Grant M. give the Xmen another shot. His run with the New Xmen a few years back is outstanding. The Astonishing Team basically includes almost all the key characters of New Xmen.

I have these people in mind...

Ed Brubaker
Chris Claremont (the old claremont if you know what i mean)
Grant Morrison
Mark Millar - i liked his run on ultimate xmen... why not make a run on astonishing?

Writers to avoid...

Daniel Way
Brian Michael Bendis
Mike Carey

Just my honest opinion!

Thou I didnt get Xmen: First Class, I have read a lot of good reviews... it brings a lot of nostalgia.

For a Grant Morrison fan, I wasn't too keen on his run on the X-Men. I liked the concepts but somehow the art was not up to par. Many criticize Igor Kordley (spelling?) for that. I liked his previous work and I just thought his art was a bit rushed due to the tight deadlines of Marvel. Unfortunately, we cannot expect Grant to go back to Marvel for the foreseeable future given his acrimonious exit with Joe Quesada.

Its a good thing that Wolverine isn't a member of every X team, it is too unrealistic, being with the Astonishing X-Men and the New Avengers is already too much :duh:

Claremont and Millar are good choices.

I also noticed that, Ziggy. The only omnipresent xmen is back to being a simple mutant. :)

While you don't see Logan on the pages of Uncanny X-Men, he still makes an occasional appearance at the X-Men comics. I find it such a great shame that Marvel keeps on pushing Wolverine onto fans since there are some great X-Men characters out there.
