Malacañang, also late Wednesday afternoon, announced the suspension of classes at all levels beginning Thursday in Metro Manila and all other areas affected by the super typhoon.

Public storm signal number 4 was raised in Catanduanes while signal number 3 is in effect over Albay, the Camarines provinces and Polillo Island, PAGASA said in its 5 p.m. weather bulletin.

Signal number 2 was up in Sorsogon, Burias Island, Quezon, and Aurora.

Signal number 1 was raised over Metro Manila, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Batangas, Romblon, Biliran, Masbate, Marinduque, Mindoro Oriental, and Lubang Island

Pagasa said Reming is much stronger than Milenyo, with sustained winds exceeding 190 kph compared to the 140 kph of Milenyo. It was also possible that the super typhoon could still gain in strength. (I hope not.) The signal number in Metro Manila was raised to signal number 2.

This is bad. Our christmas deco outside the house was being dismantled this morning. Gotta brace for it. Charge your cellphones, psp, ds, portable dvd players, etc incase the electricity shuts down. Oh god i hope theres water supply.

‘Reming’ changes course, won’t hit Metro Manila

(9TH UPDATE) SUPER typhoon "Reming" (international codename: Durian) has changed course and will no longer hit Metro Manila directly, the chief state weather forecaster said Friday.

Instead, the storm, with winds of 190 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 225 kilometers per hour, will hit provinces south of the capital, according to Nathaniel Cruz in a phone interview.

"There was a big change in direction. Metro Manila will no longer be a direct hit," Cruz said.

The change in its course was caused was by an intensified high pressure area over the South China Sea, he said.

But Cruz said Metro Manila residents should still brace for heavy rains and strong winds. "Metro Manila is still in peril. We should not relax," he said in a news conference aired live on GMA Network radio dzBB.

Wow, that is good news, at least our buyers in Pampanga won't be that badly affected if the storm is repositioned going south.

I'm actually excited to see what kind of waves it'll generate here in Zambales(hehe I'm more or less 500 Meters inland, away from the shore, so I can get a pretty good view of the waves crashing in)

I don't mean to make light of the situation, but maybe you can take some videos from a safe distance.

Hehe, I wish I could Vader, it would be indeed something interesting to share, but all my video gear is in Manila. I rarely bring the good stuff here since the salty sea air here is highly corrosive. My laptop is the only thing that's here(apart from a tv, PS2 and DVD player setup)
