IIRC, his music was so influential to his music tracks are among the most sampled tracks in Hip Hop. Too bad though that his later years was tainted by brushes with the law.

this is sad. i haven't felt this let down by a musician's death since george harrison's (and johnny cash, to an extent). i'm sure there'll be tributes coming along soon, although i believe that he's already secured his legend a long time ago. his legacy will remain for generations to come.
