DC has released what appears to be a teaser image with no information attached other than the subject line of an e-mail: "Let the battle cry be heard in the land, a shout of great destruction..."
Which obviously accounts for the weepy Superman, but not really someone wearing the Red Robin costume from Kingdom Come, or the dashing, pantsuit Batman (from an Elseworlds, perhaps, or freshly back from a relaxing desert trip where he found himself?)
Oh - and bodies, bodies, bodies...Max Lord, Beetle, Jade, and The Question...?

Interesting Teaser
Ziggy Stardust- 01-27-2007
From the way I see it, that may have been artwork from the 52 novelization.
Some things are inconsistent though...
Superman lost his powers in Infinite Crisis 7 and only regained them 1 year later in the Up Up and Away story arc, so what is he doing here.
The casualties are mostly from Infinite Crisis, namely Beetle, Max, Jade, The Atom(?) with the Question thrown into the mix
But what the heck is Red Robin and Wonder Girl doing here
Ziggy Stardust- 02-02-2007
Dan Didio answered fans questions regarding the image, which turned out to be NOT just a single event nor storyline, but a symbolic culmination of what to expect in 2007.
I guess that's why it didn't make sense

This could be something big..
Ziggy Stardust- 02-03-2007
I guess Dan Didio did not make good on his promise that the DC Universe would be a brighter place after Infinite Crisis, which he was quoted 2 years back.
Seeing this teaser image and reading 52 made me think that Comics are no longer for kids
I'm actually sick of these big events and mega-crossovers which are just there for revenue generating purposes, why can't comics just go back to being fun
Ziggy Stardust- 02-10-2007
Check out DC's May 2007 solicitations, it seems that the question on why Batman is in that outfit carrying a sword is finally answered...
