I am obviously mainly a DC fan but because of Alex Ross, I couldn't resist to buy the book Marvels. I'm just wondering why Alex Ross jumped ship and has mainly focused on DC. I am still hoping that one day he and Tim Bruckner can join forces once more to produce a line of Marvel figures ala DC Direct's JUSTICE so I can at least have a few action figure representations of Marvel's super heroes. If they decide to make a line of figures from Marvels, who would you want to see and who do you think should be included?

Marvels Hardcover by Alex Ross

Marvels is one of Alex Ross' earlier works (1994) but he has been juggling DC and Marvel for some time. ( His First superhero cover work was for the graphic novel Superman Doomsday and Beyond) after which Kurt Busiek and him went on to create Marvels. Then came Astro city (Image 1995) and the one that made him ever so popular KC (1996) - wow i was in college back then

cover to Superman Doomsday and beyond

In effect he jumps backs and forth between the two giants.

Back to your question - i would really like to have an Alex ross figure of Captain America and the Red skull especially this version of the Red skull (which i think will be captured by Randy bowen in the upcoming Red Skull Statue)

Thank you for the wonderful info Doc! Would love to see those too, and Namor! Regarding Red Skull, I think the stat master Speedracer has posted his on Medusa's corner wink.gif

i've loved the Marvels book/s since i first read it; great story and great choice of POV. for lack of a DC Direct-type source for toy product so specific, i've always hoped TB/Hasbro would see fit to make a Masterworks statue-thing based on the Angel cover. such a good image.

It's a shame that toybiz overlooked the Marvels for so long. But now that Hasbro has taken over, we can expect anything. Just like the X3 lineup, they have sporadically included them in all the first 3 waves of Hasbro ML.

Naughty Boy- 11-13-2006
but they have to enlist the services of someone as talented as Tim Bruckner to come up with a Marvels line as good as DC Direct's Justice and Kingdom Come figures

I agree. The sculpts of that line is superb. Quality sculpt plus more articulation. It could even be better than DC Direct.

Actually guys, Toybiz did produce action figures based on the art of Alex Ross.

It came from the Spiderman Classics line, a Spiderman with silver goggles (a trademark of Ross) came with the original Sandman Wave.

Another, a Green Goblin with goggles (another Alex Ross trademark) came in a box set of Spidey's foes.

I just forgot the name of the boxset and the actual name of the Spidey variant.

Maybe our resident Marvel / Spiderman collectors can come up with pictures of these toys.

i think i remember that one -- the red and black outfit? it reminded me of [surprise] the Alex Ross Red unlockable outfit from the PS1 Spidey game, which it may've been based on.
