So, you want to be a Green Lantern? A recent casting call in Los Angeles couldn't make it more obvious. For a pilot for a new TV series, "The Corps."

John Stewart -- (african american male, age 24-27). A SGT in the Marine Corps and just coming back from a trying tour in Iraq. Lead role.

Katma Tui -- (asian or caucasian female, 25-30). A very attractive and sexy, yet militant operative and lead trainer in The Corps. Must be athletic. Lead role.

Addie Stewart -- (african american female, 45-50's). John's mother who is dying of cancer. supporting role.

Hal Jordan -- (caucasian male, 27-35). Former Air force pilot who is injured in a battle with an unknown evil, while on his way to recruit John Stewart. Reoccurring role.

Tyler -- (any ethnicity male, 24-27). Serial killer, works as a hired gun for a local crime boss.

Erin Towers -- (any ethnicity male, 24-27). Former Marine, John's friend from boot camp.

John Stewart the lead, Hal Jordan as supporting?

Well, Rich Johnston's articles tend to have an ounce of truth in them. I wouldn't be surprised if they pursue the show considering the success of Smallville. As for why John Stewart? Simply put, he has been more visible to the general public via JLU. I would like to see Hal as the lead though.

The GL Corps would make a sound basis for a TV series plotline. Given a good set of writers, I think it has the potential to generate another cult following.

As to why Hal Jordan is not the main character? The names Mike Carlin, Kevin Dooley and Ron Marz come to mind. I agree that John Stewart's popularity grew probably because of the extremely successful JL/JLU series. But had Hal Jordan not been "broken" in the first place, he'd still be _THE_ Green Lantern.
